Warms Heart$ Can Heat Cold Homes

For many, juggling expenses is a constant struggle.  But for those faced with a job loss, illness, or other unexpected financial crisis, a hard winter can mean choosing between food, rent, medicine, or utilities.  Through the Warm Heart$ program Chickasaw Electric Cooperative gives its customers the power to help those who face a short term financial crisis.

The Warm Heart$ program helps customers add a donation when paying their electric bill.  Chickasaw Electric Cooperative distributes this gift to utility assistance programs in Fayette, Haywood, Hardeman, and Marshall Counties to fund home energy bills for struggling families.  Agencies, including Fayette Cares, process requests for assistance and distribute aid to qualifying families.

“Energy assistance is important to all who receive it but more so if someone in the home is elderly, disabled or a young child,” Fayette Cares Executive Director Alexandra Wardlaw explains, “these populations are more vulnerable and suffer a greater risk of life threatening illness or death if the home is dangerously cold.”

A small gift of even $5 per month can make a large difference.  For many this donation is a small sacrifice, perhaps as simple as bringing lunch to work instead of dining out one day a week.  Whatever the contribution size, if each Chickasaw customer gives a monthly gift the Warm Heart$ program can make a big difference by providing aid to hundreds of families in distress.

Involvement strengthens communities by helping neighbors in need. Many of us are not prepared to face an unexpected financial crisis.  It’s important to have service readily available for just such a need.

To warm hearts and homes with your donation contact Andrea Kee (901) 465-3591 extension 206 email akee@chickasaw.coop or complete and return the form below with your next utility payment.
