U of M Social Work Intern Program

Fayette Cares welcomes Madison Parris, the first intern from The University of Memphis School of Social Work. Parris will work as an intern under the supervision of Fayette Cares Victim Advocate Mara White, applying classroom learnings to real world circumstances. Field placement activities are an integral part of social work education. At Fayette Cares interns will gain a wealth of knowledge and insight responding to a broad array of circumstances faced by the homeless, victims of domestic violence, and families in financial crisis. Interns help provide services including emergency shelter and food, crisis financial aid (rent, mortgage, and utilities), life skills, safety planning, court accompaniment, and advocacy. Interns can gain a head start in their career fields and sometimes secure full-time employment with their internship site upon gradua-tion.
