January - Sweet slumber
Need help starting a donation drive?
Hundreds of men, women, and children in the Fayette Cares shelter sleep and dream of what life will be like once they’re back on their feet. Donate supplies for a shelter bed and you’ll be sharing in someone’s dreams.

- Plastic mattress covers (twin or full)

Shop AmazonSmile and list Fayette Cares as your charity so Amazon will donate! You can also purchase items from our Amazon wish list.
February – Souper Bowl
Need help starting a donation drive?
Bowls carry meals for hungry clients. But being part of this “souper” bowl will be less expensive than a seat in the nosebleed section!
- Soups (beef stew, chicken & dumplings, chili, etc.)
- Canned meats (tuna, chicken, etc.)
- Bowls and plates (reusable or disposable)
- Cups and glasses (reusable or disposable)
- Spoons, forks, and knives (reusable or disposable)
Hold a Souper Bowl of Caring around the Big Game to collect funds and supplies for Fayette Cares.
March - Spring Cleaning
Donate for clean clothes with morale boost
Being homeless makes it challenging to generally keep things clean. Your donations help clients find renewed pride in themselves and their surroundings.
- Laundry detergent
- Liquid dish soap
- Dish sponges
- Trash bags (all sizes)
- Brooms and dustpans
- Mops
- Storage tubs
Garden donations needed! If you’re thinning out flower beds, consider donating plants for the Home Grown section of the annual plant sale. Donations of perennials, small shrubs, and more are welcomed!
April Showers
Donate to clean body and soul
Standing under a stream of icy water sends chills up the toughest spines. A hot shower in the shelter is a luxury for many of our clients. By funding supplies and equipment you warm hearts (and heads, backs and shoulders).

May - Oh Baby!

June - Summer Fun
Donate for those precious bundles of joy
School’s out! But for many this means no free cafeteria breakfast or lunch. Your donations can help parents assure nutritious meals are still on the menu.

- Ready-to-eat snacks (Lunchables, fruit cups, granola bars, etc.)
- Canned meals (ravioli, chili, soups)
July - Back to School Already?!
Donate for scholastic success
Homeless children need all the help they can get to focus on learning. Give essential supplies to assure they are equipped for a great school year.

August Undies
Donate for a fresh foundation
Clients gladly wear gently used clothing donated to Fayette Cares, but nobody wants old underwear! Fresh undergarments are a special, unseen gift.

September Safety
Donate for all the bumps and bruises
Keep the shelter stocked with supplies to tend to our clients’ cuts, bumps, and scrapes. Donate first aid supplies and help, for just a moment, make one thing all better.

- Alcohol/peroxide
- Fever/pain reliever (adult and child)
- Burn ointment
October - Winter is Coming!
Donate to prepare for hard winter months
It won’t be long before children are waiting for the bus in the cold. Many of our clients must also face the elements when walking to work. Your donations will leave our clients feeling warm and fuzzy.

November - Holiday Giving
Donate to help make the season bright
A simple act of caring will help families in need this holiday season. Food will be distributed to hundreds of families in December. Help organize a donation drive at your church, school or work to collect these items for holiday food baskets:
- Canned Meat (tuna, chicken, ham, chili)
- Peanut Butter
- Cereal/Oatmeal/Grits
- Evaporated Milk
- Rice
- Stuffing
- Cake Mix
- Macaroni and Cheese
- Instant Potatoes
- Pasta
Donations needed by the first Friday in December!
Remember to register your Kroger Plus Card annually – Kroger matches 5% of every dollar spent at no cost to you.
December - Christmas Caring
Donate toys to spread holiday cheer
It’s tough to get in the holiday spirit when you’re barely making ends meet. Your gift will spread joy during the holidays. Please contribute unwrapped presents (infants and tweens ages 8-12 tend to be the greatest need).
