Volunteers Calling on Community to Support Shelter Repairs

The cry for help is being answered by Fayette Cares supporters who are raising money to help families in need. Individuals, business and volunteers are showing they care by starting or joining a fundraising team and urging others to join the FUN-draising efforts, which will be showcased at the annual charity gala A Night of Southern Elegance on November 6, 2021.

Fayette Cares Board Members have launched fundraisers like Ken Bowley and Boy Scout Troop #95 who served up sizzling burgers and hotdogs or Debbie Sullivan’s “Bake My Day” bake sale featuring cookies, brownies, fudge, toffee, and pies donated by Farm Bureau Women and Lisa Tracy (2021 Delta Fair’s Best Cook). As well as community supporter Kindred Spirit Style’s Taco Tuesday Moe’s meal kits.

Right now Kindred Spirit Style owner Patti Yancey has designed and hand painted limited edition Christmas ornaments as a gift for every Fayette Cares donation of $20 or more. Click to donate to her fundraising page or visit Kindred Spirit Style in Oakland, TN. Pattie knows the work of Fayette Cares is vital to restoring stability for families in crisis and is using her talents to show she cares.

The Fayette Cares emergency shelter has supported children, women, and men in need, and the pandemic has driven even more families through the doors. But after more than a decade of big and little feet running through rooms, chairs scooting at dinner tables, and bath time spills and splashes, the shelter is wearing out. The agency is facing costs like replacing air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, water heaters, and flooring. Fayette Cares needs community support to fund these and other critical costs so families have a safe place to grow stronger on their journey to stability.

Anyone can create a free fundraising page to set a goal, spread the word, and spread caring. Fayette Cares can also create a custom page for those who want help launching their efforts.

How will you show you care? Try asking friends, family, and co-workers to donate toward a fundraising goal and pledge to so something interesting if the goal is reached.
