Wish List for Scholastic Success

Calendar of Caring: July & August

Summer is in full swing but just like that, the next school year will be here before you know it.  I can already hear the kids groaning …

Homeless children face serious challenges that can impact their focus on learning.  The trauma and instability of homelessness affects mental and physical wellness, increases the likelihood of chronic absenteeism, and can result in poor educational outcomes.

On average 25% of all Fayette Cares clients are children with an estimated 50% of residents in the homeless shelter being children under 18.  These kids need your help to succeed in school and beyond.

Many caring churches, schools, and clubs host monthly donation drives so that the shelter and food pantry have the necessary supplies for families facing life’s challenges.

This summer please donate items to help disadvantaged children prepare for a great school year.

Most needed items include:

  • Backpacks (CLEAR plastic)
  • Lunchboxes/bags
  • Pens/pencils
  • Loose leaf paper/notebooks
  • Tissues
  • Safety scissors
  • Glue sticks

Our clients gladly wear gently used clothing donations but let’s face it, nobody wants old underwear.   Please give new, assorted sized child and adult underwear (male and female), socks, and sports bras.  Fresh undergarments are a special, unseen gift.

If you or your group isn’t hosting a monthly donation drive, why not?  It’s easy and feels great!
