Tropical Affair Warms Hearts

Hometowne Florist of Somerville creatively adorned bamboo, harvested in Fayette County, using birds of paradise, anthurium and other exotic flora for a tropical entrance at A Night of Southern Elegance – A Tropical Affair benefiting Fayette Cares.  More than 500 guests and volunteers joined this party with a purpose in support of efforts to end homelessness, break the cycle of domestic violence, and to provide stability for families in crisis.

Rapid fire bidding could have caused auctioneer Dwight Jones of R.J Auctions to have whip lash as bids flew across the room for vacation getaways, hunting trips, even diamonds.  Although live and silent auction items were exciting, the contributions made for Fayette Cares Fund-A-Need and Shelter Naming rights were deeply heartwarming.  For 2016 Memphis Contract Packaging/Softee will hold the honor of naming the Fayette Cares Supportive Housing units, while Russel and Cindi Rutledge will be able to name the emergency shelter units.

Hundreds of donors, sponsors, and volunteers made valuable contributions throughout the event to assure families in need find hope at Fayette Cares.  Making the event possible are tremendous sponsors including Diamond Sponsor Town of Oakland, Platinum Sponsor Ring Companies, Gold Sponsors Dave & Kathy Liebetreu, Entertainment Sponsor Memphis Contract Packaging/Softee, Silver Sponsors Allied Pest Control, Fayette Janitorial Service, LLC and Shoemaker Financial and Wine Wall Sponsor Renaissance Realty.

Major in-kind sponsors also providing substantial support include Mahaffey Tent and Party Rentals, Memphis Shades, The Stellar Cellar Wine & Spirits, Central Distributors, Hometowne Flowers, Simply Delicious Caterings, Konica Minolta, The Fayette Falcon, and Journal West 10.
