Fayette Cares Charity Tournament More than a Round of Golf

Over 250 golfers, volunteers, and sponsors hit the greens for a great cause on May 2nd for the 13th Annual Fayette Cares Golf Extravaganza sponsored by Ring Container Technologies at Fair Oaks Golf Club in Oakland, TN.

The event was much more than a round of golf, it was an opportunity to change lives and transform communities by supporting the work of Fayette Cares.  With every stroke golfers helped end homelessness, break the cycle of domestic violence, and create stability and self-sufficiency from crisis.   The community support and generosity makes it possible for Fayette Cares to help more than 1,300 people a year find shelter, training, services for safety, and much more.

After nail-biting elimination rounds at the putting contests, sponsored by The Thrasher Clinic and Longtown Gin, two golfers walked away with 55” flat screen Insignia 4K Ultra HD TVs provided by Best Buy.  Golfers were amazed by long drive pro Steve Mangan “Maganimal” who drove the ball 400+ yards for a chance at a Pebble Beach golf trip.  Having made the leaderboard for several years, the Bartlett Eagles came in first place with a score of -20.  But the real winners are the families who find hope at Fayette Cares.

In our country three women a day are killed by an intimate partner and for every intimate partner homicide there are 8-9 near-fatal injuries to children, friends, bystanders, and first responders.   Nearly 1/3 of officers killed in the line of duty were actively responding to domestic violence calls.  First Responders were honored for their courage, dedication and sacrifice with a moment of silence on the greens as all paused to reflect on those in our community and throughout our county who serve and protect, and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Fayette Cares understands the danger and is actively working to implement lifesaving programs like the Lethality Assessment Program, partnering with law enforcement to predict and prevent domestic violence.  This program helps officers identify high-danger victims, immediately connect them to the services of Fayette Cares, and work to keep abusers behind bars.

Supporting the important work of Fayette Cares as tournament sponsors were Title Sponsor Ring Container Technologies, Silver Sponsor Waste Connections, Inc., Fayette Janitorial Service, Rae Creative, Trustmark, State Farm Dave Trosper, Venue Host Fair Oaks Golf Club, Meal and Beverage Sponsors Central Distributors, Hilltop Wine & Spirits, Chick-Fil-A, Olive Garden and The Clubhouse, Event Supporters The Fayette Falcon and others.

Golfers are saving the date for the next Fayette Cares tourney on April 23, 2020.  Click to see event photos.
